15 Things to do after you get engaged

This is the moment you’ve been waiting for. You’re engaged!!! You have an engagement ring and you’re getting married! Congratulation! This will be an amazing time of your life!

There are so many things to think about, so many people to contact and so much to get done but the most important thing is DON’T BE OVERWHELMED! We put together some tips to help you decide what to do once you’re over the initial shock of getting engaged!

 

1 Call your families

If you’re like most newly engaged people, you’ll be itching to share the news with the whole world. The last place your parents should have to hear about your new status is on social media, so call them! 

2 Celebrate!

It’s time to celebrate! Go out with your families and friends or have a special date night. It’s an amazing time in your lives so before even thinking of diving into wedding planning, take some time to celebrate your new status.

3 Ring selfie

A picture is worth a thousand words, right? If you’re ready to share with the world that you’re engaged, take a ring selfie! But only after a manicure!

Your hands will be in the spotlight for the next couple of weeks, which means your manicure best be perfect.

 

4 Money, money, money

Before you start planning your big day you must discuss a budget with your fiancee and your families. A sweet couple share a tip: open a joint bank account for wedding related expenses. In this way you easly keep track of all your expeses.

 

5 Choose a date

You need to think in what season you’d like to get married in and after find out a date that works for your families. The most desirable dates and venues get booked far in advance and as soon as you have a date in mind research wedding venues.

9 Research wedding venues

It’s time to research venues. Narrow down your list according to the location, style of venue, your guest list and per person budget.Do some research online first, or maybe you already have a place in mind and can call to get more information on pricing and availability.

 

10 Build a wedding website

At the very least, look at your options and decide whether you’d prefer to create your own from scratch or use one of the many wedding website templates out there. If you are planning a destination wedding in Italy it will be really helpful!

 

11 Wedding dress

I think this will be the funniest part 🙂 There’s nothing like visiting a bridal shop and trying on wedding dresses for the first time! Schedule a ladies day and try all the wedding dresses you want! Even if you’re not ready to order your dress just yet, trying on a bunch of gorgeous dresses will be a fun way to relieve some of the stress you might be feeling after venue-hunting.

 

12 Book your photographers and schedule your engagement session

A lot of wedding photographers in Italy typically get booked 12+ months out so they should be at the top of the list of vendors to book after securing your venue. 

Take your time with booking your photographer because once the wedding is over, your photos are the only things that will remain. Schedule an engagement session too!

13 Choose your enagagement session location and get it

Your engagement session will allow you to connect with your photographer, see what it feels like to have your photos taken, and get images for your Save the Date. Research locations and schedule your session for the best time of year for the location you’ve chosen.

We usually meet our couple the year before the wedding when they research venues. It would be perfect if you want some images that remind you this time of your life.

 

14 Book all the vendors you need 

Once your venue and photographers are booked focus on your cinematographer, caterer (if your venue doesn’t supply one), your entertainment, your florals, and others. Once these big items are done you can relax a little before focusing on the rest of the to-do list.

 

15 Relax

Wedding planning can bestressful from the get-go, so try to find the humor in things and take some time to laugh, reconnect, and remember why you’re getting hitched in the first place. You’re at a great place now! Spend some quality time together and try not to do wedding-related tasks for at least a couple of weeks. You deserve it! Do something fun, just the two of you.
